The Word of Faith Movement
Word of Faith (also known as Word-Faith or simply Faith) is a worldwide so-called “Evangelical Christian” movement which teaches that Christians can access the power of faith or fear through speech. Its teachings are found on radio, the internet, television, and in many Charismatic denominations and communities. The doctrine renounces poverty, suffering, and defeat as necessary to a godly life and glorifying Jesus Christ. It teaches that the salvation won by Jesus on the cross included health and prosperity for believers; this is derived from its definition of the word sozo (salvation).
Evangelist E.W. Kenyon (1867–1948) is usually cited as the originator of Word of Faith teaching. Kenyon’s writings influenced Kenneth Hagin Sr., the recognized “father” of the Word of Faith movement. Hagin (1917–2003) believed that it is God’s will that believers enjoy good health, financial success, and a blessed life. Source: “Word of Faith” - Wikipedia
The vast majority of the programming on the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN)[1] promotes this false doctrine, which reduces true biblical faith to a form of occult “magick” in which a person can change reality with their words. Their “Jesus” did not perform any miracles that any believer can’t if the believer knows the correct “magic words” to use.
Magick, in the context of Aleister Crowley’s Thelema (spiritual philosophy), is a term used to show and differentiate the occult from performance magic and is defined as “the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will,” including both “mundane” acts of will as well as ritual magic. I personally heard Kenneth Hagen, speaking of HaShem on a telecast, say, “So you’re the I AM? Big deal! I AM too!” (For some unknown reason, lightning did not strike him.) The speaker in this video discussed Kenneth Hagen and his cohorts at 1:14:54.
