A Very Brief History of
Family Bible Church
or
How Family Bible Church Became
the Center for Messianic Learning
When First Christian Fellowship rebelled against the pastoral staff in January of 1997, we three pastors resigned. One extended family from that congregation requested that a new congretation be created. Thus, I chartered Family Bible Church on February 1, 1997, as its Founding Elder. Original “membership” at that time consisted of about a dozen active participants representing four extended families, though no formal membership roster was ever kept. (See Constitution Article III, Section 1)
On July 1, 2001 significant changes were made (see Amendment 2) and the name was changed to Benéi HaMelech Messianic Fellowship. A majority of the participants objected to the change from an Evangelical Christian to Messianic Jewish format and stopped attending. Shortly thereafter the fellowshsip was disbanded and became Benéi HaMelech Messianic Ministry.
After my wife’s death in December of 2008 we continued to meet regularly in the home. When the primary couple moved to Florida, I decided, as the sole remaining elder, to change the name of my remaining online ministry to The Center for Messianic Learning.
