Mount Hermon and
the Benéi Elohim
The story of “angels” [i.e., benéi Elohim] descending to Mount Hermon is a fascinating one, steeped in ancient texts and legends. Remembering that those who translated the ancient Hebrew manuscripts, both sacred and secular, into Greek, lumped all the “white hat” spirit beings into “angels” and all the “black hat” spirit beings into “demons,” let’s explore the idea:
- Mount Hermon:
-
Mount Hermon is a mountain cluster located in the Tel Dan region
of upper Galilee, extending through Caesarea Philippi. It has long
been associated with sacred sites of both Jewish and pagan origin. - According to the Book of Enoch, it was at Mount Hermon that 200 fallen angels descended to Earth, leaving their rightful station in heaven.[1]
- This primordial drama unfolded in a narrowly circumscribed geographical region, emphasizing the significance of this location.[1]
- The Fallen Angels:
-
In the Book of Enoch, these rebel angels descended at Mount Hermon
during the days of Jared. Their purpose was to corrupt humanity, leading
to the birth of the Nephilim, a race of giants.[1] - The angels bound themselves to fulfill their purpose on the penalty of Herem, anathema.[2]
- Their actions were part of a diabolical plan orchestrated by Lucifer to corrupt the pure bloodline of humankind.[3]
- Enoch’s Vision:
- Enoch, sitting by the waters of Dan (southwest of Hermon), received a dream and visions of chastisement. He was instructed to deliver a message of judgment against the fallen angels.[1]
- The location near Abel beth Maacah [MAP] (between Lebanon and Senir) became significant for this purpose.[1]
- Symbolism and Significance:
In summary, Mount Hermon holds a pivotal place in ancient texts, where “angels” descended, and their actions shaped human history. It remains a site of mystery and spiritual significance.[1], [3,] [2]
