What is the Role of the Land of Israel in Eschatology?

The people of Israel could keep the land if they were loyal to the covenant.
But we know by the Exile that they
lost the land. The big eschatological question
is whether the promises are still in place, and that is crucial to
interpreting correctly
the New Testament when it comes to eschatology.
