With R.C. Sproul
Dr. R.C. Sproul (February 13, 1939 – December 14, 2017) was a prominent advocate of Reformed theology, which is rooted in the teachings of the Protestant Reformation. His theological position emphasized several key doctrines:
-
Sovereignty of God: Sproul strongly believed in the absolute sovereignty of God over all aspects of life and creation.
-
Biblical Inerrancy: He was a staunch defender of the inerrancy of Scripture, meaning he believed the Bible is without error in all its teachings.
-
Classical Apologetics: Sproul favored classical approaches to Christian apologetics, which involve using reason and evidence to defend the faith.
-
Calvinism: He adhered to the five points of Calvinism, often summarized by the acronym TULIP (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints).
-
Holiness of God: A central theme in Sproul's teaching was the holiness and majesty of God, which he believed should be the foundation of Christian life and worship.
Sproul’s teachings have had a significant impact on modern evangelicalism and continue to influence many through his writings, sermons, and the ministry he founded, Ligonier Ministries.
