What Torah Says About
Election
The Redeemed Are Elect,
Chosen From Eternity Past
“… Yehovah took enough pleasure in your ancestors to love them and choose their descendants after them — yourselves — above all peoples, as He still does today. (Deuteronomy 10:15)”
For God’s unilateral choosing of the “elect” — those who are to be given access to “Truth” — see Matt. 9:13; Matt. 22:14; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32; John 13:18; John 15:16, Acts 10:41; Rom. 1:1-7; Rom. 5:6-11; Rom. 8:28-30; Rom. 9:21-28; Rom. 11:7; 1 Cor. 1:1-9, 21-29; 1 Cor. 7:16-24; Gal. 1:6,15; Gal. 5:13; Eph. 1:4; Eph. 4:1-7; Col. 3:12-15; 1 Thess. 1:1-4; 2 Thess. 2:13-14; 2 Tim. 1:8-9; 2 Tim. 2:10; Titus 1:1; Heb. 9:15; 1 Pet. 1:1-2; 1 Pet. 1:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:9-10; 1 Pet. 2:21; 1 Pet. 3:9; 1 Pet. 5:10; 2 Pet. 1:2-3; 2 John 1:1; Jude 1; Rev. 13:8; Rev. 17:8.
Those who are unsaved are called slaves to sin; those who are saved are called slaves to righteousness. Slaves have no choice in whether or not they serve their master. Rom. 6:20; Rom. 16:18; Gal. 4:8; Eph. 6:5-8; 2 Pet. 2:18-22.
In all of this it is absolutely critical to understand that “election” is not the same as “salvation.” To the “elect” is given access to Truth, but Truth must be received, accepted, and embraced in order fo it to do the work of salvation. This can be clearly seen in that “all Israel” is elect from Jacob onward, all Israel — and only Israel — was given access to knowledge of the true God. All of our Scriptures, every single one of them, was written by an Israelite[1], but clearly not “all Israel” is saved.

SCARY NEWS: God Chooses Some People For HELL...Or DOES He?
Dr. Michael Heiser
1. It can be argued that Dr. Luke, who wrote the Gospel account that bears his name plus the Acts of the Apostles, was a Gentile. Perhaps he was a Gentile by birth, but he was clearly an Israelite by adoption, if not by birth, as evidenced by the fact that he had access to the Temple with Rav Sha'ul (Paul). Had he not been an Israelite, he quite likely would have been stoned, as the penalty for any Gentile who went beyond the Outer Court, or Court of the Gentiles, was death. [BACK]
