Human Sexuality
God has defined marriage as the union between one man and one woman. No other form of civil union should be called “marriage.” God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between one man and one woman. Therefore, all forms of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, pornography, transvestitism, transgenderism, or other forms of illicit sexual activity defined in Liviticus 18 are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex.
Mankind — consisting of two genders (male and female, Gen. 1:27) — is created in the image of God. Each of these two distinct, complementary genders reflects the image of God (Gen. 1:26–27, 5:2, 9:6; Matt. 19:4–6; Mark 10:6; 1Cor. 11:7; James 3:9–10). God uniquely created Adam (man) and Hava/Eve (woman): two, and only two, genders. Any form of “gender confusion,” “gender preference,” “gender identification,” or “sexual preference” is a mental disorder.
A mental disorder — a.k.a. “psychological disorder,” “mental disorder,” “psychiatric disorder,” or “mental illness” — is a condition that involves abnormal thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that cause distress, impairment, or dysfunction in an individual. The “official” term is “mental disorder,” as defined in the latest edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5).[1]
To those who would defend the mental disorder known as “gender disphoria” by claiming that “God made me/them that way,” I say, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God” (Matt. 22:29, NLT). Your position requires that God made a mistake. God does not make mistakes, nor does he call a sin any condition of a person’s birth or anything that is beyond the individual’s power to control.
The only legitimate marriage, based on the creation ordinance in Genesis 1 and 2 and sanctioned by God is the joining of one naturally-born man and one naturally-born woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in Scripture. God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other and has commanded that no sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. Any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, prostitution, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography, abuse, or any attempt to change one’s gender, or disagreement with one’s biological gender, is sinful and offensive to God (Genesis 1:27–28, 2:24; Matthew 5:27–30, 19:4-5; Mark 10:2–9; 1Corinthians 6:9–11; 1Thessalonians 4:3–7; Hebrews 13:4).
Gender and biological sex are equivalent and cannot be separated. A person’s gender is determined at conception (fertilization), coded in the DNA, and cannot be changed by drugs, hormones, or surgery. Rejection of one’s biological gender or identifying oneself as the opposite gender is a sinful rejection of the way God made that person. These truths must be communicated with compassion, love, kindness, and respect, pointing everyone to the truth that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking his mercy and forgiveness through Yeshua/Jesus (Gen. 1:26-28, 5:1-2; Psa. 51:5, 139:13-16; Jer. 1:5; Matt. 1:20-21, 19:4-6; Mark 10:6; Luke 1:31; Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1Cor. 6:9-11; Gal. 3:28).
Any religious denomination or fellowship which condones or permits any form of sexual perversion or deviancy among its members or clergy is apostate. You should know the position of your assembly and/or denomination and if they are apostate, you must wipe your feet against them (Luke 10:11) and separate yourself from them (2Cor. 6:17), else be a partaker of their iniquity.
