iv. God’s Call to Obedience (15:1-41)
1. The Drink Offerings (15:1-21)
1 ADONAI told Moshe, 2 “Speak to the people of Isra'el, and tell them, ‘When you have come into the land where you are going to live, which I am giving to you, 3 and want to make an offering by fire to ADONAI — a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow, or to be a free will offering, or at your appointed times, to make a fragrant aroma for ADONAI — then whether it comes from the herd or from the flock, 4 the person bringing his offering is to present to ADONAI a meal offering of one tenth of an efah[GN] [two quarts] of fine flour mixed with one fourth of a hin[GN] [one quart] of olve oil. 5 and one fourth of a hin of wine for the drink offering. This is what you are to offer with the burnt offering for each lamb sacrificed.
6 “‘For a ram, prepare two tenths of an efah [one gallon] of fine flour mixed with one third of a hin [one and one-third quarts] of olive oil, 7 and for the drink offering you are offer one third of hin [one and one-third quarts] of wine as a fragrant aroma for ADONAI.
(v) 8 When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering, or as a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow, or as a peace offering to ADONAI, 9 there is to be presnted with the bull a meal offering of three tenths of an efah [one and a half gallons] of fine flour mixed with half a hin [two quarts] of olive oil. 10 For the drink offering, present half a hin [two quarts] of wine for an offering made by fire, a fragrant aroma for ADONAI.
11 Do it this way for each bull, ram, male lamb, or kid goat. 12 For as many animals as you prepare, do this for each one, regardless of how many animals there are.
13 “‘Every citizen is to do things this way when presenting an offering made by fire as a fragrant aroma for ADONAI. 14 If a foreigner stays with you — or whoever may be with you throughout all your generations — and he wants to bring an offering made by fire as a fragrant aroma for ADONAI, he is to do the same as you.[14] 15 For this community there is to be the same law for you as for the foreigner living with you. This is a permanent regulation throughout your generations; the foreigner is to be treated the same way before ADONAI as you are. 16 The same Torah and standard of judgment shall apply to both you and the foreigner living with you.’”[16]
(vi) 17 ADONAI told Moshe, 18 “Speak to the people of Isra'el and tell them, ‘When you come into the land where I am bringing you, 19 and you eat of the food pstaffuced on the land, you are to set aside a portion as a gift to ADONAI. 20 Set aside from your first dough a cake as a gift; set it aside as you would set aside a portion of the grain from threshing-floor. 21 From your first dough you are to give ADONAI a portion as a gift throughout all your generations.
2. Offerings for Unintentional Sins (15:22-31)
22 “‘If by mistake you fail to observe all these mitzvot that ADONAI has spoken to Moshe — 23 yes, everything that ADONAI has ordered you through Moshe, from the day ADONAI gave the order and onward throughout all your generations — 24 then, if it was done unwittingly by the community without them knowing about it, the community as a whole shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering as a fragrant aroma to ADONAI, along with its grain offering and its drink offering, in keeping with the rule, and one male goat as a sin offering. 25 The cohen is to make atonement for the whole community of the people of Isra'el, and they will be forgiven; because it was a mistake, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to ADONAI, and their sin offering before ADONAI for their mistake. 26 The whole community of the people of Isra'el will be forgiven, as well as the foreigner staying among them; because for all the people it was done unwittingly.
(vii) 27 “‘If an individual sins unwittingly, he is to offer a female goat in its first year as a sin offering. 28 The cohen will make atonement before ADONAI for the person who makes a mistake by sinning unwittingly; he will make atonement for him and he will be forgiven — 29 no matter whether he is a citizen of Isra'el or a foreigner living with them. You are to have one law for whoever it is who does something wrong by mistake.
30 “‘But the individual who does something wrong intentionally, whether a citizen or a foreigner, blasphemes ADONAI. That person is to be cut off[30] from among his people. 31 Because he has had contempt for ADONAI’s word and has disobeyed His command, that person is to be cut off completely; his offense will remain with him.’”
3. The Sabbath-Breaker Stoned (15:32-36)
32 While the people of Isra'el were in the desert they found a man gathering wood on Shabbat. 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moshe, Aharon, and the whole community. 34 They kept him in custody, because it had not yet been decided what to do with him.[34]
35 Then ADONAI said to Moshe, “This man must surely be put to death. The entire community is stone him to death outside the camp.” 36 So the whole community brought him outside of the camp and threw sones at him undil he died, as ADONAI had ordered Moshe.
4. The Law of Tassels (15:37-41)
(Maftir) 37 ADONAI told Moshe, 38 “Speak to the people of Isra'el and tell them that they are to make tzitziotHebrew צִיצִ֛ת, fringes for themselves on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and that they are to put a blue thread on the tzitzit of each corner. 39 It is to be a tzitzit for you to look at and remember all of ADONAI’s mitzvot and obey them, so you don’t follow your own heart and your own eyes which lead you to prostitute yourselves and you used to do. 40 But you are to remember and do all My mitzvot and be holy for your God. 41 I am ADONAI your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt in order to be your God: I am ADONAI your God.”

Y’hoshua (Joshua) 2:1–24
b. Rahab and the Spies (2:1–24)
1 Y’hoshua benben Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Yericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.
2 The king of Yericho was told, “Hinneh,[GN] men of the people of Isra'el came in here tonight to spy out the land.”
3 Yericho’s king sent a message to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”
4 The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I didn’t know where they came from. 5 About the time the city gate was closed, when it was dark, the men left. Where the men went, I don’t know. If you chase them now you may catch up with them.” 6 But she had taken them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof. 7 The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Yarden River. As soon as the pursuers had gone out, they shut the gate. 8 Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof. 9 She said to the men, “I know that ADONAI has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. 10 For we have heard how ADONAI dried up the water of the Sea of Suf before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Yarden, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for ADONAI your Elohim, He is Elohim in heaven above, and on earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, please swear to me by ADONAI, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a token; 13 and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
14 The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you don’t talk about this business of ours; and then when ADONAI gives us the land, we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
15 Then she let them down by a rope through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall. 16 She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”
17 The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you’ve made us to swear. 18 Hinneh!, when we come into the land, tie this scarlet ribbon in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household. 19 It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him. 20 But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you’ve made us to swear.”
21 She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet ribbon in the window.
22 They went out and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but didn’t find them. 23 Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Y’hoshua ben Nun. They told him all that had happened to them. 24 They said to Y’hoshua, “Truly ADONAI has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”

Basar
(Gospel)
Mattityahu 10:1-14
1Having called to Himself His twelve disciplestalmidim, Yeshua gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. 202Now the names of the twelve shliachim are these. First, Shim`onSimon, called KefaPeter, and AndraiAndrew his brother, Ya`akovJacob Ben-ZavdaiSon of Zebedee and YochananJohn his brother, 3PhilliposPhilip and Bar-TalmaiBartholomew, T'omaThomas and MattityahuMatthew the tax-collector, Ya`akovJacob Bar-HalfaiSon of Kheleph and TaddaiThaddius, 4Shim`onSimon Zelotesthe Zealot, and Y'hudahJudah the Sicarius, who betrayed Him.
5Yeshua sent out these
twelve after instructing them, Don’t go into the area of the Gentiles, non-Jews, literally “nations”Goyim, and
don’t enter into any town in SamariaShomron.
6Instead, go to the lost sheep
of the house of Yisra'el.
7As you go you are to proclaim,
‘The Kingdom of Heaven[GN] is at
Kepherim: Letters (optional)
Messianic Jews (Hebrews) 3:7–19
7 Therefore, just as the Ruach HaKodeshHoly Spirit says,
“Today if you will hear his voice,
8 don’t harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
9 where your fathers tested Me and tried Me,
and saw My deeds for forty years.
10 Therefore I was displeased with that generation,
and said, ‘They always err in their heart,
but they didn’t know my ways.’
‘They will not enter into my rest.’”
12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God; 13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Mashiach, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end, 15 while it is said,
“Today if you will hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.”
16 For who, when they heard, rebelled? Wasn’t it all those who came out of Egypt led by Moshe? 17 With whom was He displeased forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 To whom did He swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 We see that they weren’t able to enter in because of unbelief.

14. Again I must voice my concern for the Church. Throughout the Torah ADONAI stresses that the gentile must worship Him in the same way as the Hebrew does. But the Church insists that it will worship God in their own way and expects God to honor their disobedience “because we mean well.” [BACK]
16. Here we once again clearly see the directive that the Torah is for all, Jew and Gentile alike, who are citizens of the Commonwealth of Israel. [BACK]
30. must be cut off “The Hebrew term used here, karath, can describe either capital punishment or banishment (see Exod 12:15; 30:33; Lev 7:20–27). Numbers 15:32–36 may illustrate that karath in this context could refer to capital punishment (compare note on v. 34). The seriousness of the sin demanded a serious penalty for the sake of the community (compare Deut 17:12; 19:13).” John D. Barry, Douglas Mangum, Derek R. Brown, Michael S. Heiser, Miles Custis, Elliot Ritzema, Matthew M. Whitehead, Michael R. Grigoni, and David Bomar, Faithlife Study Bible, (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2012, 2016), Num 15:30. [BACK]
34. should be done to him “The penalty for violating the Sabbath was death according to Exod 31:14–15. Their uncertainty over how to handle the violation could indicate that this portion of the law had not been fully articulated at this time. There may have been some confusion about whether the man’s actions consisted of prohibited work, or Moses may have been waiting for confirmation from Yahweh that the violation had been deliberate and demanded the death penalty.” Ibid. Num 15:34. [BACK]
